Clarence Hill

CLARENCE E. HILL, 85, died at 9:46 p.m. May 5, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born October 19, 1921, in Henry County, Ohio to John and Maude Rickard Hill, who preceded him in death. On June 23, 1945, in Leipsic, he married Dorotha Sugg, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Hill was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lima, and the American Legion, Deshler, Ohio. He retired from Ford Motor Co. on July 1, 1984, after 27 years. He was a quality control inspector. He was a member of UAW Ford Retirees. He was a huge Cleveland Indians fan. He served in the Army Air Force from July 27, 1942, to January 22, 1946. Survivors also include a son, Mark Hill, of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Diane (Wilbur) Logan, of Lima, Ohio, and Beth (Michael) Kleman, of Elida, Ohio; a brother, Norman (Betty) Hill, of Deshler, Ohio; a sister, Evelyn Tumblin, of Grover Hill; five grandchildren, Todd Logan, Tina (Aaron) Sawmiller, Adam Kleman, Meagan Kleman and Blake Kleman; and a great-grandson, Daniel Sawmiller. He was preceded in death by a brother, John R. Hill; and four sisters, Lois Baker, Helen Radabaugh, Bernice Kinder and Mary Leon Markwood. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. Pastor Kent Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, of Lima, Ohio. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
