Cloice Budd Harrod , 96, passed away at 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at his home.
Budd was born on November 16, 1925 in Waynesfield, Ohio to the late Cloice Stanley and Grace {Pepple} Harrod. On April 2, 1950, he married Patricia {Stiles}, who survives him in Lima. They were married for 71 years.
Budd was a graduate of Waynesfield Goshen High School, class of 1944. After graduation he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. During the Army, he was a heavy machine gunner for Company D, 137th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division. He retired from Norfolk Western Railroad after 35 years. He was an avid Ohio State fan and loved to go to sprint car races. He would watch any and every sport on TV and loved to travel; visiting every state in the United States. Budd was a former member of Indian Lake Community Church for 20 years and then a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima.
He is survived by his wife, daughters: Karen (Phillip) Wilcox and Jenelle (Joseph) Skeen, grandchildren: Carlie Serif and Bryan (Georgeanna) Serif, and great-grandchild: Piper Serif.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Samuel Harrod and John Harrod, and sisters: Rebecca Harrod and Ruth Broadhurst.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Friends may visit 2 hours prior to the service, from 12-2 p.m. at the church. Entombment to follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Administration, St. Rita’s Hospice, or Trinity United Methodist Church.
