Connie Newbury, 67, of Lima, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 6:30 a.m. at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 8, 1954 in Lima to Russell Floore and Doris {Hire} Hollar. Her mother survives her. On December 1, 1978, she married Richard “Mike” Newbury, who survives in Lima.
Connie worked in the physical therapy department at Lima Memorial Hospital and retired after 40 years. Her favorite place was anywhere with her family, especially her grandkids. Her second favorite place was the beach. She loved being outside and enjoyed flower gardening. She loved shopping, antiquing, country music, attending concerts, and watching Hallmark movies (especially Christmas movies). Christmas was Connie’s favorite time of year. She went above and beyond to make her home as festive as possible and even began Christmas shopping for the next year as soon as Christmas that year was over. Connie had a large number of friends and had many lifelong friends from Lima Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. Most important to her, above all else, was spoiling her grandkids.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children: Jaramie (Sara) Newbury, Alicia (Peg) Newbury, and Ashley (Jonathan) Bell, grandchildren: Ariah Frick, Jayden Newbury, Jaykob Newbury, Sawyer Bell, and Mila Bell, great-grandchild: Kaizer Johnson, and siblings: Diane DeRosia, Terry (Marcia) Baggs, and Sandy (Glenn) Miller.
She was preceded in death by her father and step-father: Darrell Hollar.
Her family will receive friends on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the funeral home. Pastor Teresa Wenrick will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
