Darlene Schwaiger

Darlene L. Schwaiger , 81, died at 5:05 p.m. July 24, 2009, at her daughter?s residence. She was born December 26, 1927, in Lima, Ohio to Emmet and Myrtle Eley Carr, who preceded her in death. In December 1968, she married William Schwaiger, who died in 1992. Mrs. Schwaiger was the former secretary/co-owner of Kerr Sporting Goods in Lima. She had also worked at GNC in the Lima Mall. She enjoyed bowling with her sisters and sisters-in-law at Moreo and Northland Lanes for more than 40 years. She loved golfing and reading and her cat, Maggie. She loved spending time with family and spending time in Florida at the dog tracks. She loved talking to others and never met a stranger. She is finally at home with her God and family. Survivors include a daughter, Diane (Larry) Comer, of Lima, Ohio; two granddaughters, Amy (Dan) Mohr and April (Shawn) Shepherd, both of Lima, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Dylan, Stephen, and Cydney; two stepsons, Eric and John; four stepdaughters, Judy, Marcia, Teresa, and Lisa; and numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Joe and Tom Carr; five sisters, Thelma Rhodes, Anabel DeCurtains, Kathryn Taylor, Violet Ream, and Mildred Schaffter; and a stepdaughter, Christine. Services will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Amanda Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Allen County.
