Darold Lee Hefner, 92, passed away at 7:08 a.m. on December 27, 2023, at his residence.
Darold was born on May 3, 1931, in Lima, Ohio, to Fred A. and Marjorie (Smith) Hefner. On August 18, 1978, he married Kathryn (Makris) Hefner, who survives in Lima.
Darold graduated from Lima South High School in 1949. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955, attaining the rank of Sgts. Darold worked for A to Z Meats as a salesman for 16 years, retiring in 2000. He also worked in the realty business. He was the owner of Stewarts Rootbeer Stand. Darold was a pitcher in Fast Pitch Softball, enjoyed gold and cards, and loved having coffee with the guys at Lombardo’s.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, Rick Hefner and Mark Hefner; stepchildren, Brad Elmquist, Kelly Frese, and Mark Elmquist; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Lila Hefner; and a brother Don Hefner.
There will be a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
