DARRELL E. GEHRING Sr., 76, died at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 18, 2005, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Delphos. He was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Lima to Leonard and Madge McCarty Gehring, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 26, 1987, he married Marye Wininger, who survives in Lima. Mr. Gehring retired as a self-employed contractor operating the Gehring & Burtchin Contracting Co. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, both in Lima, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1533, Indian Lake, and the Lima Builders Association. His biggest love was working in his yard. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies. Survivors include two sons, Darrell (Sandy) Gehring Jr. of Elida and Stephen (Sandi) Gehring of Tampa, Fla.; four daughters, Deborah (Keith) Wandell of Northville, Mich., Cheryl (Michael) Doninger of Cary, N.C., and Robin (Billy) Leuck and Tami (John) Trenkamp, both of Lima; 15 grandchildren, Stephen (Beth) Gehring, Adam (Autumn) Gehring, Andrew Gehring, Brandon Wandell, Kaitlin Wandell, Hayley Wandell, Amanda Garner, Dexter Garner, Sydney Garner, Brandon Lauck, Dustin Lauck, Chris (Deana) Lauck, Trenton Suever, Taylor Suever and Austin Trenkamp; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Gehring; and a stepson, Larry Dean Wininger. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
