David Beery

DAVID E. BEERY, 71, died at 3:39 p.m. Dec. 5, 2006, at his residence. He was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Monroe Township to Howard T. and A. Lucille Dunlap Beery, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 15, 1954, he married Vonda M. Burkholder, who survives in Lima. Mr. Beery was a lifelong farmer and retired in 1998 from the Ohio Department of Corrections as the Lima Correctional Institution farm manager. He was currently working at Siferd Funeral Home. He was a member of South Side Christian Church. He was a member of the American Corrections Association and the National Agribusiness Institutional Association. He was a 1953 graduate of Bluffton High School and received the Future Farmers of America State Farmer Award in 1952. Survivors also include two sons, Tomas D. (Michelle) Beery, of Miamisburg, and Gale M. (Liz Clester) Beery, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a daughter, Julie (Kevin) Tuttle, of Lima; a brother, H. Eldon Beery, of Bluffton; and three grandchildren, Lauren A. Beery, of Springboro, Brendan A. (Jherilyn) Tuttle, stationed with the Air Force in Fayetteville, N.C., and Britny E. Tuttle, of Lima. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at South Side Christian Church. The Revs. Douglas Adams and Howard Allison will officiate. A private burial of the cremains will be in Zion Mennonite Cemetery, Bluffton. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church, 3300 South Side Drive, Lima, OH 45805; or to the Equestrian Therapy Program.
