David Buchanan

David Scott Buchanan, 71 of Lima died at 7:50 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at his residence

He was born June 6, 1941 in Spruce Pine, NC, the son of the late Carl C. Buchanan and Nettie (Biddix) Buchanan. He married Patricia Mummey on June 10, 2006 in Moorehead City, NC and she survives in Lima.

He retired from The United States Army holding the rank of Major. He served our country during the Vietnam Conflict. After retiring from the Army, David worked for Northern Telecom
as a Customer Service Manager. He was a member of South Side Christian Church (Disciples of Christ.),
and active in its Wednesday evening prayer group. He enjoyed working with fused glass. He also enjoyed salt water fishing, traveling and reading mystery novels.

Surviviors include a son, David Buchanan II of Newport News, VA, a daughter, Deidre (Bill) Ryan of Raleigh, NC, step-son Wilbur (Karen) Mummey of St. Cloud, FL, two step-daughters Sherri (Kevin) Bishop of Lima and Jennifer (Scott) Sullender ofRaleigh,NC. Also surviving are two granddaughters Jamie Buchanan and Dyan Casey Buchanan, Two Step-grandchildren Jennifer and Josh Bishop, grandson Tyler Phillips and granddaughter Allison Phillips, grandson Evan Ryan, great-granddaughter Kaylee Marie and great-grandson Jayden Dwayne and a brother, Ted (Linda) Buchanan, and two sisters, Ida Maye (Johnny) Pittman and Wilma (Don) Boone.

He was preceded in death by one brother Johnny Buchanan and a sister Willie Lester.

Memorial Service will be Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 3:00 PM at South Side Christian Church with
Rev. Wanda Werking officiating. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post #1275.

Visitation will be from 2:00 - 3:00 PM at the church.
