DAVID ANDREW HENGSTEBECK, 53, died at 12:53 a.m. Jan. 1, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born June 3, 1953, in Detroit to David Alexander and Phyllis Lewis Hengstebeck, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 7, 1972, in Mount Clemens, Mich., he married Christine Louise DuVall, who preceded him in death. Mr. Hengstebeck was a self-employed truck driver. He was a Marine Corps veteran serving during the Vietnam War from July 2, 1970, to Oct. 1, 1971. He was a great friend and father, and he helped out a lot of people. Survivors include six children, Douglas (fianc?e Amanda Holdren) Hengstebeck, of Lima, and Rickie Frances Engene Hengstebeck, Ernest Eugene Hengstebeck, David Andrew Hengstebeck Jr., Christine Louise Hengstebeck Jr. and James Charles Andrew Hengstebeck, all of Detroit; an adopted daughter, Mary (James) Sims, of Lima; and close friends, Robert Johnson and Janet Glover. Services will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Pastor John Stone will officiate.
