David Raymond Kreitzer, 56 of Lima, OH, died at 6:32am on December 31, 2011 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, OH.
He was born on April 2, 1955 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Raymond and Hazel Rudity Kreitzer, who both preceded him in death. Dave was raised in Wapakoneta where he graduated from high school in 1973.
On June 4, 2005 he married Donna M. Gerad, who survives in Lima.
Dave Kreitzer retired as the owner of Avon Oxygen & Supply. He was presently the co-owner of H20 Gardens and Landscaping with his son John. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #54 in Lima, the National Rifle Association, the Allen County Master Gardeners and was a finance committee member at the St. John's Parish in Lima. Dave was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, crossword puzzles, practical jokes, working at his shop and most of all spending time with family and friends, especially his granddaughter Cambria (Peanut). Dave graduated from the Ohio State University and has been a lifelong fan of the Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed vacations with his wife and family, fishing trips with friends and helping those in need. Dave was a friend to all and stranger to none.
Survivors also include a son, John (Megan) Kreitzer of Lima, a daughter, Allison Kreitzer of Lima, a daughter, Lauren Gerad of Lima, a daughter Alicia (Chad) Plowman of Lima, a daughter, Shaina Gerad of Lima, a daughter, Elana Gerad of Lima, a son, David Gerad of Lima, one granddaughter, Cambria, and five sisters, Janet (Rob) Ransom, Lynn Culver, Susan (John) Smaha, Karen (Terry) Hutchinson and Beth Caldwell.
The family will receive friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 3 and Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 11:00am at St. John's Catholic Church in Lima, Ohio. Services will be officiated by Father David Ross. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
