Rev. David Wellington Leamon,
78, of Lima, Ohio died on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, 10:10 a.m.at his residence in Lima, Ohio.
Born April 5, 1934 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of the late Walter Leamon and the late Mary (Plumly) Leamon.
He married Ferne Linda Schwab on August 9, 1958 in Owosso, MI, where they both attended college. His wife survives in Lima. David was an ordained minister in The Wesleyan Church, pastoring for 35 years, churches in Michigan, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. He was involved for a number of years in youth ministry and promoting Sunday Schools in the districts he served. Following high school, David served in the United States Marine Corp from 1954-1957. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor.
Surviving are: four sons, Rev. Michael (Wendy) Leamon of Silver Creek, NY, Steven (Lori) Leamon of Whittier, NC, Paul (Cheryl) Leamon of Chicago, IL and Benjamin (Beth) Leamon of Ft. Wayne, IN; a daughter, Cindi (Craig) Troyer of Elida, OH; thirteen grandsons and four granddaughters as well three great grandchildren will greatly miss their grandpa's love and teasing; two brothers, Paul Leamon and Joseph Leamon; four sisters, Joan Patton, Greta Stricker, Naomi Jewett and Martha Powers.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Viewing is at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Cable Road Alliance Church.
A service of celebration of life will be held at Cable Road Alliance Church, 2264 N. Cable Road at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 with Rev. Richard Jueckstock and Dr. Michael Boyes will officiate.
Interment will be in Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Elida, Ohio
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Great Commission Fund in care of Cable Road Alliance Church.
