David Leroy Buchanan, 74, passed away at 10:46 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio.
David was born on November 3, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Roy E. and Charline M. (Rehn) Buchanan. In 1972, he married Karleen (Kohli) Buchanan, who survives in Findlay.
David was a 1964 graduate of Lima Senior High; then went on to receive a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University College of Engineering in 1969. David was a registered Professional Engineer, and lifetime member of IEEE. He worked 30 years at AEP (Ohio Power), then retired from Hancock Wood Electric Co-Op after 13 years with them. He was an avid Lionel Train collector and a lifelong Ohio State fan. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and all activities they participated in. He was very interested in their lives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Brian (Carol) Buchanan of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Brenda (Shad) Falls of Perrysburg, OH; son, Scott (Erin) Buchanan of Forest, OH; daughter, Stacy (Nathan) Inbody of Painesville, OH; grandchildren: Allison Falls, Brandon Falls, Alexis Buchanan, Grace Buchanan, Audrey Buchanan, Samantha Buchanan, Wyatt Inbody and Waylon Inbody. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the funeral home. Pastor Brett Kelly will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Per the state Covid order and family request, we ask everyone attending to wear a mask.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mount Blanchard United Methodist Church or American Heart Association.
