46, died at 1:50 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
David was born on September 24, 1970, in Lima to the late Mason D. Metzger and Marybeth (Snyder) Metzger. His mother survives in Lima.
He served in the United States Navy from 1989 to 1999 and served on several submarines during his tours. He worked for Lowes Distribution Center in Findlay and was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church, Eagles Aerie #370 and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two sisters, Sarah (Patrick) Hennessey, of Columbus, OH and Karen (Michael) Raines, of Lima, OH a brother, Michael (Amy) Metzger, of Bluffton, OH; nieces and nephews, Dan, Matt, Sean, Kate and Kevin Hennessey, Jared, Brice, Emily and Neil Metzger and Connor Raines.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima with Military honors by VFW Post 1275.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Father Jim Szobonya will officiate.
Entombment of ashes will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum at a later date.
