David L. Meyer, 63 of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of Lima, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque.
Born February 12, 1950 in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late Gerald "Gerry" Meyer and the late Mildred "Midge" Strauer Meyer.
David was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his service he worked for Poley's Big & Tall. Then he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and worked for the University of New Mexico where he recently retired after 23 years of service. Dave truely loved life and lived every day to the fullest. He was an avid reader and enjoyed hiking, biking, skiing and camping in the mountains of New Mexico. Dave was an Ohio State fan (of course), a New Mexico Lobos fan and also a Detroit Tigers fan. He also enjoyed music, great food, friends and family and his dog Tigger who was by his side to the end along with his friends Mike, Rob and Jessica.
He is survived by a niece, Amy Meyer (Eric Briggs) a nephew, Greg Larotonda, a brother, Ronald (Marilyn) Meyer, a nephew Ron (Jessica) Meyer and numerous aunts and uncles. He will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother Gary P. Meyer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date for the family.
