David Ream Smith, 63, of Palm Springs, California, formerly of Lima, Ohio, died at 10:15 p.m. August 7, 2008, at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California. He was born May 4, 1945, in Lima, Ohio to Ralph Emmett and Nelda Jane Ream Smith. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Smith was owner of Chosen Books bookstore in California. He was a 1963 graduate of Bath High School. Survivors also include three sisters, Debra (Max) Stover, of Elida, Ohio, Denise (David) Shafer, of Bluffton, Ohio, and Dena (Steve) Boswell, of Clear Spring, Maryland; two nephews, Jason (Darla) Stover, of Dublin, Ohio, and Todd (Kelli) Cosart, of Harrod, Ohio; five nieces, Amy (Jessica Marquis) Cosart, of Toledo, Ohio, Molly (Mason) Hagemeyer, of Metamora, Ashley Pill, of Morgantown, W. Virginia, Melissa Stover, of Oxford, and Katie Pill, of Morgantown, W. Virginia; two great-nieces, Michaela Cosart and Mallory Morman; and an aunt, Eleanor Gross, of Lima, Ohio.
