DELLA M. PATE, 94, died at 10:15 a.m. Aug. 30, 2006, at her home in Alanson, Mich. She was born March 29, 1912, in Middlesboro, Ky., to James H. and Janie Hatton Mills, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 17, 1930, she married the Rev. Robert Pate, who died March 9. 1956. Mrs. Pate retired in 1973 from Pangles Master Market store No. 1, where she worked for 16 years. Her love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very committed to her faith. Survivors include a son, Jerry (Geraldine) Pate of Alanson, Mich.; two grandchildren, Greg (Cindy) Pate of LaFollette, Tenn., and Sandy (Warren) Jackson of Harbor Springs, Mich.; five great-grandchildren, Bob Pate, Joe Pate, Darik Jackson, Cody Jackson and Christopher Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and James Mills; and four sisters, Margaret Burden, Victoria Carmony, Elsie Tennyson and Georgia Headrick. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at South Side Christian Church. Her niece, Wanda Werking, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
