Della Marie Pitz

Della Marie Pitz , 94, passed away at 11:52 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Springview Manor.

Della was born on August 17, 1927, in Lima, Ohio, to Wesley W. Pond and Bertha M Marlow.  On May 1, 1948, she married John Pitz in Greenup, KY who preceded her in death on May 15, 2005.

Due to the depression, she was raised at the Allen County Orphanage. She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1948. She pursued a nursing career and graduated from the Lima Nursing College in 1952. She worked at Lima Memorial as a Pediatric Nurse and later in her career worked on the IV team.

Della was an avid reader and loved traveling, she could strike up a conversation with complete strangers and she avidly researched her family’s origins. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Survivors include three sons, Stephen Michael (Nancy Kesler) Pitz of Elida, OH, Greg Alan (Jennie) Pitz of Columbus, OH, and David Lee (Jaci White) Pitz of Montgomery Creek, CA. She has seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Bertha Pond, her husband, John Pitz, a sister Hazel Lillian Pond, and a brother Lloyd Henry Pond.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. Rev. Dottie Kaiser will be officiating. A livestream video will be available at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Public Library.
