Delphine Marie Sackinger Cook, 53, died at 7 a.m. Sept. 2, 2010 at her residence. She was born Feb. 13, 1957 in Lima to Michael Donald and Barbara Shepard Sackinger. Her mother survives, her father preceded her in death. She was married on Feb. 14, 1997 in Lima to Michael A. Cook, who survives. She was a member of Teamsters Local 908. She was a former volunteer member of the Elida Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT. She was the first female volunteer firefighter there. She was a former police dispatcher for the Lima Police Department. She was also a nurse for many years at St. Rita?s Medical Center. She worked at Nash Finch Corp. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, camping, fishing, collecting lighthouses and angels, sewing, and spending time with her family, friends and her animals. Survivors also include: two sons, Michael (Tammy) Hesseling, of Lima, Philip (Mylinda) Hesseling, of Lima; one daughter, Catherine (Matthew) Tumbleson, of Lima; two stepdaughters, Heather and Amanda Cook, both of Lima; 17 grandchildren; two brothers, Daniel (Liza) Sackinger, of Waynesfield, John (Gwen) Sackinger, of Lima; three sisters, Darleen (Greg) Gogley, of Lexington, S.C., Denise (Gene) Harness, of Pandora, Diane (Jesse) Hernandez, of Toledo; and her first husband, Daniel L. Hesseling. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Michael E. Cygan; and a brother, Michael David Sackinger. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Journey Assembly of God (formerly Calvary Temple Church). Pastor David McGregor will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
