Diana L. Shappell , 67, passed away at 3:55 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
Diana was born on Sunday, March 16, 1947, in Lima to the late Donald E. Shinabery and Iola M. [Hollar] Shinabery.
On Friday, December 27, 1996, in Kissimmee, FL, she married Gary Dean Shappell who survives.
She was a member of South Side Christian Church, where she had served as a deacon. She was also very involved with the Church's Prayer Time group and Family Promise. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1965.
She is survived by a son David (Sirima) Curtis of Live Oak, TX, a daughter Melissa (Dennis) Wojciechowski of Schertz, TX, a son Daniel "Joey" Young of Selma, TX, She is also survived by four grandchildren; Eric Wojciechowski, Christa Wojciechowski, Donal Curtis,and Maliya Curtis,a step -daughter Shelly (Matt) Elling, and two step-grandchildren; Cade Elling, and Leah Elling, She is also survived by a brother Ed (Kathy) Shinabery, and a sister Melody (Max) Johnson, two uncles Earl (Charlene) Hollar, Jr., and Russell (Dorothy) Shinabery to aunts Earline Kershner and Beverly Bishop and several cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima.
Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at South Side Christian Church, 3300 South Side Dr. Lima, with Rev. Wanda Werking officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima,
