DIANE PACETTI, 66, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 22, 1950, in LaSalle, Ill., the daughter of Dustin and Frances Pacetti, who preceded her in death.
Diane grew up in Peru, Ill. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., and later received her Ph.D from the University of Oklahoma.
She retired from The Lima News in 2012. She had worked for more than 15 years at the newspaper, beginning as its city editor before being promoted to managing editor. She also penned a weekly column on Sundays.
Diane came to The Lima News from Peoria, Ill., where she taught journalism at Bradley University. Before that, she worked at The Associated Press in the Chicago bureau and as a correspondent in Wausau, Wis. She also worked at the Kankakee Daily Journal, the Canton Daily Ledger and the Newton Press-Mentor, all in Illinois.
Diane was known for her love of family and friends and her faithful felines, Ruby and Zeke.
Survivors include two brothers, Danny (Wendy) Pacetti and Mark Pacetti, all of Peru, Ill.; four nieces and 11 great-nieces and -nephews.
Services and burial will be private in Illinois. Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
