Dixie Britton

Dixie L. Britton, 83, died at 4:41 a.m. October 16, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born May 6, 1925, in Allen County to Ernest "Red" and Lillian Bresler Reedy, who preceded her in death. On August 31, 1942, she married William H. Britton, who died August 17, 2002.

Mrs. Britton was owner and operator of Point Pizza, Russells Point, and had worked at the Wally Byam Store/Airstream, Jackson Center. She was a member of New Faith Missionary Church. She was born and raised in Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church. She was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1533, Indian Lake, and the Daughters of the Union Veterans Association (Civil War). She was a 16 year cancer survivor. She loved music and family.

Survivors include one son, Harold Dane (Sherrie) Britton of Bellefountaine; two daughters, Dianne Britton Fox, of Springfield, and Marta Britton Toomey, of Jackson Center; and 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Natalie Friestuhler.

Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Hart will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cermetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
