Donald “Dean” Claypool, 86, passed away at 2:53 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
Dean was born on July 23, 1934, in Delphos, Ohio, to the late Delmar C. and Vada S. (Richardson) Claypool. On May 23, 1992 he married his loving wife, Barbara Ann (Houtz) Claypool, his “Angel”, who survives him.
Dean worked at the Worth Center in Lima as the prison’s Operations Supervisor. He was a member of the FOE #370 and belonged to Forest Park United Methodist Church, Lima.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Rick D. Claypool; daughter, Christine R. Poole; daughter, Tracy Cox; step-daughter, Connie S. (Dave) Mauch; step-son, Randy Jorgensen; step-son, Rolland L. Jorgensen; step-son, Gregory A. Brown; step-daughter, Kelly A. Gallant; twenty-eight grandchildren; over forty great-grandchildren; and some great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Juanita Vogt; step-son, Rob Jorgensen; step-daughter Julia A. Greeley; and son-in-law John Poole.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
