DONALD WILLIAM MEARS Sr., 79, died at 6:25 a.m. November 27, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born March 6, 1926, in Pensacola, Oklahoma, to Newman M. and Mae Mears. On October 29, 1946, he married Beatrice J. Hall, who died February 23, 2005. Mr. Mears was self-employed. During the last years of his life he was extremely devoted to caring for his wife. He enjoyed amatuer radio. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl (Don) Haney of Lafayette, Ohio; two sons, D. William (Dee) Mears and Michael D. Mears, both of Lima, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Irene Hall and June Hall; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon Lynn Mears; a sister, Hazel Wooten; and three brothers, James, Johnie and Richard Mears. Service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Robert Green will officiate. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger, Ohio.
