Donald W. Sandy, Jr.
56 died Monday October 7, 2013 at his residence in Lima, Ohio.
Donald was born on November 27, 1956 in Lima, Ohio to Donald W. Sandy Sr. and Beverly Sue Stumbaugh Sandy Ball.
He was married to Sue (Klett) Sandy, who survives in Lima, OH.
Mr. Sandy served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Elm St. Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and girl's softball. His passion was fishing, playing cards, baseball and football games. He also helped run events at the Lima Towers where he has lived for several years. He also helped collect food for the Veterans Food Pantry.
He is survived by two sons; Donald Sandy III and Michael Sandy of Lima; two daughter Stephanie (Kevin Handshoe) Sandy and Alicia Sandy of Lima, OH; five grandchildren Austin and Matthew Sandy, Alexis and AnnJalene Handshoe, and Bradley Moore all of Lima, OH; a special nephew he considered as his own David (Crystal) Sandy of Spencerville, OH; four sisters Teresa (Bruce) Hammer of Gutman, OH, Dawn (Jeff) Owsley of Lima, OH, Cindy (Scott) Burden of Waynesfield, OH, and Kim Carman of Lima, OH; one brother Mark Sandy of Lima, OH; six step brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by: his step-father Raymond Ball Jr; a sister Lisa Isaacs-Adams; step brother Richard "Dick" Ball; and maternal grandmother Lucille Long Stumbaugh.
The family will receive friends on Thursday October 10, 2013 form 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, and on Friday, October 11, 2013 one hour prior to the funeral service.
Funeral service will be on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. A military graveside honors will be conducted by VFW Post 1275. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Jim Loescher will officiate.
