Donald E. “Bucko” Latvala, 90, passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at The Springs of Lima.
Bucko was born on November 16, 1931 in Wakefield, MI, to Eino and Agnes (Kasper) Latvala. On April 24, 1952 he married the love of his life, Edith (Streeter) Latvala, who preceded him in death on April 10, 2009.
Bucko retired from SOO Line Railroad as a section foreman after 40 years with the railroad. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lafayette. He loved mowing grass, plowing snow, and splitting wood.
He is survived by his son, Steven E. Latvala of Cato, WI; son-in-law, Steven M. Maki of Lima; grandchildren: Steve A. (Christina) Maki, Nick Maki, Nancy Smith, Laurie (Thomas) Cox, Barbara (Greg) Wilson, Don Latvala, Jason Oberst and Jessi (Cory) Firkus; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Maki and sister, Kathleen Geist.
There will be no public visitation or services.
