Dora Shaw

Dora Ellen Shaw, 80, died at 5:30 p.m. September 22, 2008, at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born July 3, 1928, in Allen County, Ohio to John and Clara Gossard Gross, who preceded her in death. On December 25, 1946, she married Roger L. Shaw, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mrs. Shaw had been the deli manager at the Shawnee IGA for 16 years. She was a member of the Navy Mothers and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She loved gardening, cooking and helping others. She loved to travel, but above all else she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors also include three sons, Dennis D. Shaw, of Lima, Ohio, Jeffrey E. (Stacy) Shaw, of Elida, Ohio, and R. Douglas, (Jeanne) Shaw, of Wapakoneta, Ohio; two daughters, Jill (Shawn Hunter) Vetter, of Lima, Ohio, and Barbara E. (Gary) Hickerson, of Sidney, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Beth Shaw, Keith Shaw, Jeremy Klausing, Alaina Shaw, Lauryn Shaw, Kamryn Shaw, Brian (Jennifer) Shaw, Ben (Tiffany) Hickerson, Travis (Ashley) Hickerson, Jason (Jodi) Wright and Nicole (Mike) Young; four great grandchildren, Jaden, Brayden, Gage and Makenna; six brothers, Chuck Gross, Fred (Mary) Gross, Gary (Bev) Gross, Ronnie (Sarah) Gross, Bob (Pat) Gross and Roger Gross; two sisters, Mary Helen Spees and Vera (Junior) Plaugher; and several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and - nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Cretora Waltermier; two brothers-in-law, Ike Waltermier and Harry Spees; and a sister-in-law, Katie Gross. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. William Cronk will officiate. Burial will be in the Auglaize Cemetery, Harrod. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
