Doris Alberta Jackson, 87, died at 12:50 a.m. Aug. 27, 2010, at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Columbus to Clyde and Bertha Beck Sturm, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 1, 1977, she married Robert Jackson, who died Nov. 16, 2004. Mrs. Jackson was a member of American Legion Post 96 Auxiliary and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 Auxiliary and Fraternal Order of Orioles Nest 173. She liked NASCAR and working her puzzles. She loved her cat Angel. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jean (Richard) Griffith of Monticello, Ind., three grandchildren, Debra Leann (Gerald) Toumine, of Monticello, Ind., Richard Leon (Wilma) Griffith, of Milford, Del., and Peggy Lynn (Rob) Scallorn, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; seven great-grandchildren; three half sisters, Betty (Harry) Stoner, of Lima, Leona Watson, of Toledo, and LaDonna Walters of Lima and special friends, Sharon and Larry Hilgert, of Lima. She was preceded in death by a half sister, Martha Hamblin. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where a VFW Auxiliary service will be held at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 1275 auxiliary.
