Doris A. Welker 83, died at 5:55 p.m. January 9, 2010, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. She was born December 15, 1926, in Lima, Ohio to George T. and Laura R. Hilty Kempf, who preceded her in death. On Septtmber 15, 1951, she married Billy Welker, who died April 12, 1986. Mrs. Welker was a lifetime member of First Evangelical Reform Church. She was an active YWCA member and board member and was a current trustee. She was a volunteer at St. Rita?s Medical Center Auxiliary and the Cup Soup Kitchen. She leased and managed Springbrook Swim Club for many years. She loved traveling, beaches and swimming, trips to Las Vegas and dancing. She loved her family immensely and spending time with them. Survivors include a son, Dave Welker, of Lima, Ohio; three daughters, Laura (Dennis) Gerding, of Elida, Ohio, and Lee Ann Hinkle and Mary (James) Pletcher, both of Lima, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Mindy, Lori, Patrick, Brian, Billy, Bradley, Brenton, Eddie, Tara, Dylan, Bethany and Brandon; 14 great-grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Adam, Seth, Cole, Chloe, Alexis, Madison, David, Emma, Anna, Vanessa, Kaylee and Kaden; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Nusbaum and Richard Welker; and a sister-in-law, Helen Kempf. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kempf; and a sister, Mary Nusbaum. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Edward Rinehart will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
