91, died at 5:11 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Facility in Lima, Ohio.
Dorothea was born on June 07, 1922, in Littleton, Massachusetts, to the late Warren M. Nixon and Mabel Mae (Lawrence) Nixon.
Dorothea was a Home Economics Teacher in the Beverly School System, Beverly, MA. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Class of 1946; Master of Science in Home Economics Education from Simmons College, Boston in 1954. She was a life member of the American Home Economics Association; Massachusetts Home Economics Association, Executive Board; Beverly Teachers Association, serving as their secretary, vice-president and treasurer; life member of the Wing Family of America; Westford Academy Alumni Association; and Danvers Historical Society.
She is survived by: a brother, Edwin (Joan) Nixon of Lima, OH; three nephews, Robert (Sally) Nixon of Germantown, OH, Paul (Kim) Nixon of Austin, TX, John (Melanie) Nixon of Lima, OH; four nieces, Kelly (Craig) Templin of Granbury, TX, Patrice (Kim) Leimbach of Marion, OH, Julie (Craig) Jordan of Lima, OH, Judy (John) Lethbridge of Tyngsboro, MA; eighteen great-nieces & nephews, and four great-great-nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by: a brother, Lawrence (Margery) Nixon; and two nieces, Maureen and Linda Nixon.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio, where a wake service will be held at 8:00 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lima, OH with Father Jim Szobonya officiating.
Burial of ashes will be on July 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton, Massachusetts.
