Dorothy Coon

DOROTHY IRENE COON, 90, died at 7:45 p.m. December 28, 2006, at Plus Health Care. She was born May 28, 1916, in Findlay, Ohio to William Hal and Bertha May Porter Francisco, who preceded her in death. On January 25, 1947, she married Ambrose "Amos" F. Coon, who died June 18, 1998. Mrs. Coon was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima, Ohio. She worked at Westinghouse during World War II, from 1942 to 1945. She retired from Kmart. She loved to play bingo and dance. Survivors include guardian Rita McKinley, of Lima, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Bill Sterling, of Lima, Ohio, and Robert Shaw, of Saginaw, Michigan; sister-in-law, Barbara Ruck, of Wapakoneta, Ohio; and friend, Helen Sawmiller, of Lima, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold G.J. Francisco. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen Blum will officiate. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, Continental, Ohio. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
