Dorothy Hecht

Dorothy H. Hecht, 70, died May 31, 2008, at her residence. She was born April 1, 1938, in Pandora to Norbert and Alma Baumgartner Brinkman, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hecht was a teacher's aide and school librarian. She also worked at the Red Cross and The Andersons. She enjoyed working with children in a school setting. She loved decorating and enjoyed spending time at the library, ArtSpace/Lima and the Children's Garden. Survivors include two sons, Stephen J. (Michelle) Hecht, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Bradley J. Hecht, of Gering, Nebraska; two daughters, Lisa R. Brockman, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Sandra L. Hecht (Darren) Duncan, of Gering, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Eugene V. (Judy) Brinkman, of Columbus, Ohio, James W. Brinkman, of Dayton, Ohio, Richard D. (Miriam) Brinkman and Robert (Margaret) Brinkman, both of Lima, Ohio, and Charles R. (Beryl) Brinkman, of Oxnard, California; and four sisters, Patricia Hughes, of Dayton, Ohio, Julia (Howard) Brickner, of Ottawa, Ohio, Anita Meredith, of Phoenix, and Mary Grothouse, of Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald H. Brinkman. Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kent Wilson will officiate. A private burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the library or the Children's Garden.
