Dorothy E. Lafferre, 86, died at 1:30 a.m. February 7, 2009, at Lima Manor Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for more than 14 years. She was born October 28, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan to Richard and Evelyn Bella Ward, who preceded her in death. On December 15, 1951 she married Warren Lafferre, who died April 1, 2005. Mrs. Lafferre was a homemaker. In her 20s, she worked in a cafeteria in Detroit before moving to Deerfield, Michigan, to help her recently widowed sister raise two small children. She was a wonderful Christian wife. She loved her family and God. Survivors include a son, Larry Lafferre, of Los Angeles, California; two daughters, Judy (Dave) Damaske, of Lima, Ohio, and Marilyn Larzelere, of Toledo, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Erin Damaske, Erika Damaske, Nathan Damaske, Andrew Damaske, Matt Larzelere, Dan Larzelere, Joshua Lafferre, Amanda Lafferre, and Jeremiah Lafferre; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Erb and Glenn Ward; and a sister, Mary Erb (Rickard) Bryce. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Brian McManus will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
