Earl "Benji" Chapman Jr.
91, went home to be with his Lord at 3:55 AM on Saturday, September 07, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Earl was born on Saturday, March 11, 1922, in Midland , Indiana, to the late Earl Chapman Jr. and Alice [Thomas] Chapman.
On Tuesday, December 24, 1946, he married Norma Jean [Baker] Chapman. He served the United States Air Force during WWII. He was a charter member and a former business manager of the Lima Baptist Temple. He was a retired supervisor of Clark Equipment. He was a member of Jasonville Lodge #530, F&AM of Jasonville, Indiana. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a huge Indiana University Fan, never missed a Hoosier basketball game.
He is survived by: his wife, Norma Jean Chapman, Lima, OH; a daughter, Alice (Danny) Scarberry, of Elida, OH; a daughter Pam (Jim) Brown, of Elida, OH; , a son, Tom (Dottie) Chapman, of Lima, OH; son, Earl (Jan) Chapman , of Paulding, OH; daughter, Roberta (Mike) Bowersock, of Ft. Wayne, IN; son, Lewis Chapman , of Lima, OH; nine grandchildren, Missy (Matt) Hohman, Rachael (Cam) Staley, Tom "T.J." (Michelle) Chapman, Jason (Maria) Bowersock, Jeremy (Missy) Bowersock, Jared (Ali) Bowersock, Joy (Jeff) Brandt, Julie (Tim) Font, Jennifer (Seth) Snow; three step grandchildren, Brad Brown, Deesa Hammer, and Jodie (Dan) Ragland; twenty-one, great grandchildren; a niece, Mary Lou Chapman.
He was preceded in death by: a two brothers, John Chapman and Lewis Chapman.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 09, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A graveside service will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida.
Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, Ohio.
