Earl Elkins Sr. 51, died at 1 a.m. October 27, 2007, at his residence. He was born December 20, 1955, in Logan, W.Virginia, to Calvin Coolidge and Violet Pridemore Elkins, who preceded him in death. On July 20, 1998, he married Annette R. Melching in Covington, Kentucky, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Elkins loved his children. The Elkins were foster parents for many years. He retired after 20 years from Army?s Auto Wrecking as their wrecker driver. He was an avid pool player. He was loved by many, many people. Survivors include two sons, Earl Elkins Jr., of Orlando, Florida, and Christopher Melching, of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Elizabeth Melching, of Lima, Ohio; two brothers, Lester (Kathy) Elkins, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, and Elmer Elkins, of Orlando, Florida; three sisters, Lois Davis, of Florida, Wilma Elkins, of Florida, and Pauline (William) Campbell, of Virginia; and a grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Samuel Payne and the Rev. Wayne Prater will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.
