Edith Louise (Sroufe) Briggs
87, was called home on Monday, October 05, 2015, surrounded by family and friends, at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio.

Edith was born on Tuesday, June 05, 1928, in Hamilton, Ohio, to the late Charles Sroufe and Elizabeth (Soltez) Sroufe. On July 29, 1945, she married William R. Briggs. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2003.

Mrs Briggs had worked at the Lima Tank Depot during World War II. She later worked at Sears downtown Lima, and eventually at Weight Watchers. She volunteered with the Allen county board of elections for approximately fifteen years. A gifted artist, she enjoyed painting and was a member of the Potpourri of Painters Society. Gardening and reading murder mysteries were favorite past-times. She was an excellent seamstress and took pride in making clothes for her family. Edith loved animals of all sorts, but her cats held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by two sons, Larry (Patricia) Briggs and John (Brenda) Briggs, a daughter Marleen (Jon) Briggs-Purdy, 8 grandchildren, Patrick Briggs, Tina M. Snider, Michael Briggs , Emily (Chris) Friermood, Nicole Briggs, Lydia Briggs, Ty Purdy, Angela Briggs, a step grandchild, Tia Wireman, four great grandchildrem, Brayden Briggs, Caiden Rodabaugh, Camden Rodabaugh and newest great grandchild, Avery Noell Friermood born on Monday, October 5, 2015.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Kelly and Terry Briggs, two brothers, John "Bud" Mester and Raymond Sroufe, a sister, Elizabeth Mester.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M.to 4:00 and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Barbara Dafler will officiate.

Interment of cremated remains will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio at a later date
