Edmund Patrick Rhine Sr.

89, died at 9:34 PM on Friday, August 6, 2021, at his residence in Lima, Ohio surrounded by his loving family.

Edmund was born on June 27, 1932, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Benard "Buss" Rhine and Helen [Grisby] Rhine.  He married Glistine Nichols on April 15, 1957 until she preceded him in death on March 24, 1988. He then married Cildrea Norton on November 20, 1993 who also preceded him in death on June 30, 2005.

Ed enjoyed many things and liked staying busy with family and friends. Ed served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956 and later received his high school diploma in 2004. He retired from The Lima Post Office in 1987. He was a member of the Eagles #70, VFW Post #1275, American Legion #96, and St. John’s Catholic Church. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. Ed participated in many bowling leagues and senior-junior tournaments. Ed also enjoyed dancing and trying his luck at BINGO.

He is survived by his two sons, Lewis Rhine, of FL and Edmund (Lisa Sabovik) Rhine , Jr., of Cridersville, OH, a daughter, Christine (Brian Gilbert) Newman, of Lima, OH, daughter-in-law, Gail Rhine, of Cridersville, OH, two stepsons, Greg Norton, of Lima, OH, and Chris Norton, of Lima, OH; 11 grandchildren: Amy Rhine Warnimont Mouk, Bobbie Rhine Clapper, Jackie Rhine, Heather Rhine Pina, Brian Sharp, Becky Sharp, Eddie Rhine, Brittney Downard, Carmen Rhine-Mclean, Tim Rhine Jr., and Jess Rhine, many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Timothy Rhine Sr. on May 28, 2021, brother, William "Bill" Rhine, sister, Helen Sigmon, and an infant sister.

In final passing, sincere gratitude and thanks are extended to all of the wonderful caregivers who provided love, support, and companionship to Edmund these past few years. Your dedication to him will never be forgotten, Thank you.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH. Chaplain Glory Geib will officiate.

Entombment will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum, Lima, Ohio.
