Edna K. Matter, 97, died at 9:38 a.m. Jan. 6, 2009, at Sunrise Assisted Living, Gahanna. She was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Jackson Township, near Beaverdam, to William H. and Emma K. Bridges Cool, who preceded her in death. On July 16, 1933, in Springfield, she married Raymond O. Matter, who died Feb. 22, 1994. Mrs. Matter was a homemaker. She was a 1929 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School. She lived her married life on the family farm on Hillville Road. Survivors include a son, James R. (Marilyn R.) Matter, of Chandler, Ariz.; a daughter, Kaye (Donald) Hughes, of Blacklick; a half brother Charles R. (Janet) Cool, of San Andreas, Calif.; four grandchildren, Bruce A. Matter, Mark W. Hughes, Juleen R. Barth and Susan O?Donnell; and 11 greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond A. Cool; and a sister, Edith M. Dirlam. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. William Herr will officiate. Burial will be in Lewis Grove Cemetery, Lima.
