Edward H. "Ed" Ambrister, 82 of Lima, Ohio died on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio in Lima, Ohio.
Born Monday, January 21, 1929 in Knoxville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Ambrister and the late Flora Blair Ambrister.
He married Alma "Jean" Blaine who survives in Lima and later married Odessa (Cotrell) Ambrister who preceded him in death. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He worked for over 15 years for Clark Equipment as an Inventory Auditor and later for AVI Vending Services supplying many different area Business's for over 10 years. He served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1951 as a Dental Technician. He was a quiet gentleman who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. And always enjoyed a good argument with them.
Surviving is: a son, Les (Debe) Ambrister of Lima, OH; two daughters, Gina (Dennis) Vondrell of Lima, OH and Gesa (Rick) Abbott of Heber, AZ ; two step sons, Chuck (Aida) Cotrell of Garden Grove, CA and Mike Cotrell of Archabold; a brother, Frank (Johnnie) Ambrister of Maryville, TN. and a special friend Andrea Casto of Lima. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Joshua (Sondra) Ambrister, Jeremy (Carol) Ambrister, Valerie (Greg) Stumbaugh, Alysha (Jon) DeCurtins, Stephanie (Adam) Stolly, Elizabeth (Michael) Sarno, Douglas Vondrell, Rikki (Branson) Stephens, Adam Abbott, Sarah (David Stickle) Abbott: and twelve step-grandchildren: Jeff (Lisa) Cotrell, Ken (Angie) Cotrell, Kevin (Destiny) Cotrell, Angie (Rick) Cotrell-Berger, Phil (Sherri) Cotrell, Shannon (Rick) Cotrell-Lee, Mark Cotrell, Michael Cotrell, Joe Cotrell, Amy Lawley, Charles Cotrell, Jr. and Elizabeth Cotrell along with several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: two step sons, Art and Harold "Butch" Cotrell, and brothers, John "Junior" Ambrister and James "Tarz" Ambrister, and sisters, Ruth Clabough and Elsie Ambrister.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 25th, 2011 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Father Mike Houston officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH. Graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 24, 2011, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to donor's charity of choice .
