Edward Hebden,

Edward Hebden Jr. 79, died at 3:29 a.m. Sept. 19, 2007, at Triumph Hospital, Lima. He was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Phillipsburg, Pa., to Edward and Evelyn Veard Hebden, who preceded him in death. On June 9, 1951, he married Joan Watkins, who survives in Lima. They enjoyed 56 years together. Mr. Hebden retired as a certified public accountant from the Internal Revenue Service, after 30 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer. He was a life member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, where he had served as a treasurer and trustee, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a devoted father of five children and grandfather of seven. He was an avid supporter of the OSU Buckeyes. He enjoyed golf and his dog, Blossom. Survivors also include a son, Edward (Catherine Bakody) Hebden III, of Wangaratta, Australia; four daughters, Valerie (Larry) Sellers, of Lima, Brenda (John Siegler) Hebden, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Lorie (Mark) Murray and Michele (Howard) Smith, both of Lima; a brother, Gary (Patty) Hebden, of Morgantown, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren, Adam Sellers, George Murray, Natalie Murray, Mallory Naftzger, Drew Naftzger, Brian Smith and Laura Smith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Earl Hebden. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. David Harris will officiate. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
