Edward Milton Shick Jr.

Edward Milton Shick Jr., 89, passed away at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021, at The Springs of Lima.

Ed was born on June 8, 1932 in Bellefontaine, OH, to Edward Milton and Hazel May (Brackney) Shick.     On October 8, 1952, in Muncie, Indiana, Ed married Shirley E. Dodds.  Shirley died October 3, 1974.  On September 20, 1975, in Spencerville, Ohio, Ed married Mary Lou Daugherty.  She survives in Elida, Ohio.

Ed was a Korean Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from October 9, 1951 until October 8, 1954.  He was an E-4 CPL. with the 320th Medical Detachment.  Ed then attended the Ford Motor Company Apprenticeship Program in Machine Repair for 4 years.  He worked at the Ford Motor Company for 40 years, in Skilled Trades-Machine Repair.  He retired from Ford in February of 1997.  Ed was a member of the Lima Community Church of the Nazarene, Lima, Ohio.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Carmen Lee Nicklaus of Lima, OH and Tamara Dawn (James) Tyler of Anchorage, AK; sons, Jeffery Allen Shick of Washington DC and Douglas M. (Nicole) Shick of Lima; grandchildren, Kaylyn Nicole (David) Broker and Thomas P. Tyler; sister Patricia (Robert) Armstrong of Huntsville, OH.  He was preceded in death by his first wife and parents, and a son-in-law Roger Nicklaus.

The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  The funeral service will begin at 10:30 am on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the funeral home.  Rev. Doug Boquist will officiate.  Burial will follow at Allentown Cemetery, Lima.
