Edward G. Tierney, 89, died at 8:35 p.m. Aug. 11, 2009, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born Nov. 30, 1919, in Westfield, Mass., to Edward and Gertrude Golding Tierney, who preceded him in death. He married Maybelle Shoemaker, who preceded him in death. Mr. Tierney retired as a supervisor from Westinghouse Electric Corp., after 44 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a second lieutenant. Survivors include a son, Edward ?Eddie? (Hazel) Tierney, of Anaheim, Calif.; two daughters, Barbara (Bob) White of Harrod, and Becky (Jerry) Grohoske, of Findlay; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Waburton and Shirley Connors, both of Connecticut; and three stepsons, Mark (Sandi) Shoemaker, of Kentucky, Kyle (Tina) Shoemaker, of Florida, and Kent (Carol) Shoemaker, of Lima. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Tierney; a brother, Dennis Tierney; and a sister, Marguerite Hansen. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Hopkins will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, with military rites at noon by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
