Edward "Bill" William Kohler
92, died at 12:20 PM on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Otterbein Nursing Home in Cridersville, Ohio.
Edward was born on November 2, 1925, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Edward Kohler and Phyllis (Skelly) Kohler.
On September 8, 1951, Bill married Beverly Lorraine "Bev" Drury. She preceded him in death on December 17, 1997. On March 28, 2004, he married Donna Jean "D.J." Weygandt-Stiles. She survives in Cridersville, Ohio. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University. He was a guidance counselor, teacher, coach, and an assistant Principal in the Lima City Schools for many years. After retiring from Lima Schools, he taught in the Knightstown, Indiana Schools. He was also an associate at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Sonar Operator during World War II (10/26/1943- 5/2/1946) and during the Korean Conflict (1/15/1951 - 4/4/1952). He belonged to Lima Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima, Ohio. He volunteered with the Auxillary at Lima Memorial Health System for 27 years and also volunteered for the America Red Cross. He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles Aerie 370 and the Elks B.P.O.E. 54, Lima, Lodge #205, Free and Accepted Masons, Antioch Shrine, the Lima Shrine Club, and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason-Valley of Dayton.
He is survived by: son, Gregory D. (Lori) Kohler, of Lima, OH; daughter, Stephanie K. (Mark Anselmo) Kohler, of Brighton, CO; stepdaughters Cynthia Weygandt, and Melody Gillette of Cincinnati, OH; a stepson, Marty (Cindy) Weygandt of Alexandria, VA; seven grandchildren, Alicia Marie Kohler, Travis (Chelsey)Kohler, Matthew Kohler, Amber (Brian) Siefker, Shannon Gillette, Nicholas Weygandt, Natalie (Adam) Schlosser; and six great grandchildren; Brayden, Keygan, Desmond, Layton, Reid, and William.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Loretta Kohler and sister LaVira Kohler-Martini.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 6:00 pm by Lima Lodge #205 F&AM followed by a Scottish Rite Ring Service.
A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede F H. Rev. John Foster and Chaplain Peter Citerin will officiate.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Otterbein Cridersville-Benevolent Fund or Trinity United Methodist Church.
