Eileen F. Slade died May 12, 2011.
She was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Richland Township, Allen County, to William Henry and Nettie Oberly Stettler, who preceded her in death. On April 2, 1947, in Cairo, she married Harold K. Slade.
Mrs. Slade was a 1944 graduate of South High School, Lima. During World War II, she worked at Wright Field. She met her husband while they both worked at Superior Coach. She worked for a time at Office World in Lima. She enjoyed traveling and was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Elida. The strength and constancy of her love for her family will always be remembered. She had many friends who were dear to her and will miss her.
Survivors include three sons, Clark, of Rockford, Mich., Mark, of Hillsdale, Mich., and Scott (Deya Salem), of Long Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren, Monica, Veronica and Sam, all of Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Ivan Stettler, of Lima; a sister, Orma Witham, of Melbourne, Fla.; and nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Merton Stettler; and sister, Dorothea Schroer.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Elida. The Rev. Ruth Solo will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
