Elbert J. ?Cookie? Hunter , 79, died at 10:59 a.m. May 24, 2009, at his residence. He was born October 26, 1929, in Pineville, Kentucky, to Henry Harvey and Dora Baker Hunter, who preceded him in death. On May 5, 1953, he married Lois Tennyson, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Hunter retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1989. He was a member of Lima Missionary Baptist Church and had been pastor at several churches, including Samaria Missionary Baptist Church in St. Mary?s, Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church and Continental Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of United Auto Workers union Local 1219. Survivors also include a son, Robert Hunter, of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Beth Ann Hunter, of Lima, Ohio; a grandson, Nathan Hunter, of Lima; two brothers, Harvey (Carol) Hunter, of Lima, Ohio, and Curt (Treecie) Hunter and Roger (Tammy) Hunter, both of Pineville, Kentucky; and two sisters, Cathy (Ray) Fuson and Katie (Gary) Hinkle, both of Pineville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Hunter and James Hunter; and two sisters, Verdie Fuson and Edith Simpson. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lima Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Terry Brock and the Rev. Denny Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
