Eleanor Jane Conaway Snyder
91, passed away at 3:15 AM on January 29, 2017, at St. Rita's Inpatient Hospice Unit in Lima, Ohio.
Eleanor was born on January 30, 1925, in Lima, Ohio, to James A. "Chick" Malloy, Sr. and Rosetta (Knerr) Malloy who preceded her in death.
On September 23, 1944, Eleanor married Edward Dean Conaway, who died September 3, 1983. On November 30, 1991, she married Fred B. Snyder, who died July 14, 2010. Eleanor was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Lima, Ohio, and a member of its Altar Rosary Society. She was a Life Member of the VFW Post 175 Auxiliary, and was a Past President, having served from 1990-1991. She was also the Cancer Chairman for many years. She was a member of M.O.C.A. #6 and was President three times. She was also District 1 President three times, served as Chaplain and as District 1 Chaplain. She was a lifetime member of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima, Ohio and belonged to Club 42. She was also an AVON Lady for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Dick) Moxley, of Delaware, OH, son, David M. Conaway, of Lima, OH, and a son, Thomas (Marcia) Conaway, of Lima, OH; step son, Philip (Jean) Snyder, of Lima, step son, Marc Snyder, of SC; grandchildren, Michelle (Dave) Robinson, Angela (Anthony) Jones, Marc Conaway and Matt (Christie) Conaway, all of Lima, OH; four step grandchildren, Nikki (Mike) Lotz, of Spencerville, OH, Chad (Michelle) VanVorce, of Lima, OH, Melissa (Jay) Hile, of Spencerville, OH, Danielle Snyder, of Lima, OH; seven great grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a step daughter, Diana VanVorce, by two brothers, Richard Malloy, James A. Malloy, Jr. and a sister, Virginia Winkler.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 and a rosary being recited at 7:15 PM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Johns Catholic Church will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 12:00 PM with Father David M. Ross officiating.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Catholic Church.
