Eleanor Winkeljohn

ELEANOR WINKELJOHN, 90, died at 10:15 p.m. April 4, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born March 2, 1915, in Maria Stein, Ohio to August and Leona Roeckner Knapke, who preceded her in death. She married Harry B. Winkeljohn, who died March 6, 1986. Mrs. Winkeljohn was a homemaker and had worked at The Leader Store for nearly 20 years. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society. Survivors include a son, Jim Winkeljohn of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Mary (Don) Angel of Myrtle Beach, S. Carolina, and Sue (Dan) Plummer of Ada, Ohio; a sister, Lucille (Al) Kramer of Maria Stein, Ohio; a brother, Urban (Mildred) Knapke of Maria Stein, Ohio; four grandchildren, Tom Winkeljohn, Tony Winkeljohn, Jeff Angel and Chris Plummer; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Winkeljohn; and four brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. Tom Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gerard School or Lima Central Catholic High School Scholarship Fund.
