Elmer Crowe 89, died at 9:56 a.m. October 25, 2009, at his residence. He was born February 20, 1920, in Trebbe, Perry County, Ky., to Nead D. and Lilly Elizabeth Barnett Crowe, who preceded him in death. On June 27, 1941, he married Elsie A. Hook, who died June 17, 1998. Mr. Crowe was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church and a member of Trinity United Methodist. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and a member of the United Trainmen Union. Survivors include a son, David Crowe, of Lima, Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Linda (Jim) Johnson, of Lima, Ohio, and Priscilla (Dennis) Simons, of Wapakoneta, Ohio; a brother, David (Doris) Crowe, of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Sheets, of Lima, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Clayton Wimer, of Harrod, Ohio, and Harry (Gretchen) Hooks, of Lima, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Daisy Page, of Lima, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Rose Parente, Elva Cross, Elsie Bowden and Rita Wimer; and six brothers, John Crowe, James Crowe, Glen Crowe, Ernest Crowe, Herbert Crowe, and Roy Crowe. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Franklin Cooley will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
