Elsie Smith

Elsie M. Smith, 99, died at 8:10 p.m. Aug. 29, 2010, at Wyngate Senior Living Community. She was born Nov. 5, 1910, in Lexington, Ky., to Everett C. and Cary Fixx Whitmore, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 26, 1930, she married William C. Smith, who died May 9, 1993. Mrs. Smith was owner and operator of the Kibby Korner Shoe Repair for more than 40 years. Survivors include seven nieces and nephews, Jim Counts, of Lima, Roger Whitmore and Sharon Huster, both of Florida, Don Whitmore of Lima, Richard Whitmore, of Virginia, Gale Kline of Lima, and Carol Sue Kline. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Ann Smith, who died in 1981; and 10 siblings, W.K. ?Dick? and Charles Whitmore, Irene Benton, Betty Kline, Lucille, Lawrence and Owen Whitmore, Anna Crown, and Gladys and Karteryn Whitmore. Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Gethsemani Cemetery. Father David M. Ross will officiate. Condolences may be expressed at www.chamberlainhuckeriede.com.
