Erik P. Woehlke, 41 of Lima, Ohio died at 8:40 a.m., on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Lima Convalescent Home, surrounded by his family.
He was born September 28, 1969 in Lafayette, Indiana.
Mr. Woehlke graduated from Shawnee High School in 1987, and received a degree in Accounting and Finance from the College of Business Administration at the University of Cincinnati.
He began his professional career as the accountant at the Capital Club in Columbus. He later worked as a financial analyst with Bell and Howell. He ended his career working in the environmental services department at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was a member of the Mercy Club at St. Rita's. He enjoyed cooking, playing golf, horseback riding, long distance bicycle riding, and snow skiing. He also enjoyed gatherings and volleyball games with his Shawnee classmates.He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed University of Cincinnati Bearcat and Ohio State Buckeye Football and Basketball. He was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. Whenever he returned to Lima for a visit, he enjoyed eating coney dogs at Dairy Queen of Lima or Sharon Dairy King. His favorite hometown desert was Kewpee yogurt.
He enjoyed socializing with the residents and staff at the Lima Convalescent Home, and he was known to be a very competitive bingo player. He will be remembered by the staff for his late night and early morning snack requests. He never met a stranger and he will be missed by those who knew him, and especially by those who loved him.
He is survived by his parents, Paul H. and Genoveva E. Woehlke, and a brother Kirk M. Woehlke, all of Lima. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ian Woehlke, and his grandparents , L. Paul and Marian H. Woehlke of New York, and Carlos and Peregrina Dragone of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Other survivors include and uncle, Peter Woehlke and three cousins, Melissa, Paul, and Lee Woehlke of North Carolina, his former wife Jennifer Fitzgerald , and a dear friend Amanda Fisher of Lima.
A Memorial Mass will begin at 1p.m. on Saturday, April 16th at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father Steve Blum will offciate. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
