ERNEST J. "BODIE" BODENSIECK, 81, died at 9:35 a.m. Feb. 22, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born June 1, 1923, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Julius Henri and Elma Frieda Sommer Bodensieck, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 9, 1943, in Story City, Iowa, he married Margery "Sande" Sande, who survives in Lima. The had been married for 61 years. Mr. Bodensieck was a gear specialist in the aerospace industry, working on booster engines for several spacecraft and held patents in the field. He was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. He attended school in Columbus and received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University. He enjoyed people, bingo, crossword puzzles and all things Lutheran. He had lived in Scottsdale, Ariz. Survivors also include a daughter, Elizabeth A. (Glen D.) Eley of Lima; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Justine "Dobie" Henkelmann; a son, Stephen Allan Bodensieck; and a sister, Matilda "Tilla" Fritschel. Memorial services will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arthur Wilde will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
